A gentle way to re-connect, repair and strengthen the body. There will be a focus on deep abdominal activation and stability through breathing and exercises, gently bringing focus and awareness to the lower abdominal muscles. Focus is also given to pelvic floor activation and repair. Expect a steady, encouraging class working with alignment cues throughout to regain abdominal connection, move, strengthen and mobilise the full body to leave you feeling strengthened, open and energised in the body and mind.
We recommend completing the Essential classes before progressing onto the Activating sessions by following our specially designed programmes for each stage of recovery, which can be found on our website and on your welcome newsletter.
Equipment: Small Pilates Ball / small cushion and a Theraband/ pair of tights or leggings
+ Only practice after your 8 week check, if you had a C-Section please wait at least 12 weeks and ensure your Doctor has told you that you are safe to exercise
+ Listen to your body, rest when you need and stop if you are in any pain at all. Less is more.
+ We avoid deep twists, deep backbends and inversions
+ Do not practice abdominal exercises other than deep abdominal engagement and supported deep abdominal exercise
+ Be mindful not to overstretch
+ Postnatal specific classes are advisable in your baby’s first year
